Description
Pre-natal reformer Pilates classes are specialized fitness sessions designed specifically for pregnant women, typically from the second trimester onwards (around 12-14 weeks) through late pregnancy. These classes adapt traditional reformer Pilates to accommodate the changing needs and safety considerations of pregnancy. The reformer machine is particularly well-suited for pregnant women because it provides excellent support and allows for smooth, controlled movements without jarring or high-impact motions. The adjustable springs can be modified to reduce resistance as pregnancy progresses and energy levels fluctuate. These classes focus on maintaining and building strength in key areas that support pregnancy and prepare for labor. This includes strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, core work (adapted to avoid traditional abdominal exercises), and focusing on deeper stabilizing muscles and breathing techniques. Pre-natal classes emphasize improving posture and spinal alignment as the body's center of gravity shifts and the ribcage expands. They work on maintaining hip and shoulder mobility while strengthening the back muscles to counteract the forward pull of the growing belly. Leg and glute strengthening helps support the additional weight and prepares for the demands of carrying and caring for a baby. Level 1 - Beginner Grip socks are mandatory
